ITO EN was founded in August 1966 on a simple premise: to produce and sell a product at the very heart of Japanese culture—green tea. Over the next four decades, ITO EN took this idea and turned it into a national phenomenon. With a philosophy of innovation, research, and customer service, ITO EN has made not only loose leaf tea, but a whole range of green tea and other products a mainstay in Japan. Though rooted in Japan, ITO EN has also taken an international outlook. Since the 1980s, subsidiaries have been established in Hawaii, China, Australia, and the continental United States. Firmly positioned as the world's leading producer of green tea products, ITO EN is on the verge of making green tea a part of global culture.
Key to the company's growth has been its strong dedication to authenticity. With green tea's important place in Japanese culture, much of the company's activity has been dedicated to preserving green tea's essential taste and character. Founded in July 1987 in Honolulu, Hawaii, ITO EN USA holds a special place as the first subsidiary established outside of Japan. Key to ITO EN USA's success has been its adaptation to the unique needs and tastes in modern Hawaii, whose residents trace their origins to the Pacific, Asia, and beyond. In entering the Hawaii market, ITO EN USA acquired lines of existing beverage products and subsequently made improvements. Currently known as Aloha Maid & Royal Mills, these lines are and are the top performers in their markets. At the same time, the subsidiary has maintained ITO EN Group's dedication to spreading authentic green tea, introducing canned green tea. As of 2004, ITO EN USA is now introducing their unique, island-based products through distribution channels in the continental United States.
For over 20 years, ITO EN (USA) INC. has been the home of Hawaii’s favorite island drinks. We continue to bring our lineup of all natural Aloha Maid fruit drinks, delicious Royal Mills Iced Coffees and ITO EN Green Teas.
