  February 2010
Greetings tea lovers! It’s time to tell you about some of the most recent goings on here at Ito En New York. The year seems to already be moving quickly and, whatever your tastes may be, we’ve got the tea to keep you going. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, we have created a designer canister perfect for the occasion. Inside this wonderfully hand-crafted package you will find the remarkable tea called Budding Jasmine Rose. Young silver-tip leaves scented with Jasmine are tied around a dried flower in the shape of a bud. This bud will “blossom” in hot water creating a fresh and fragrant yet delicate tea that is as nice to look at as it is to drink.

We have some good news this month for fans of two of our most popular teas: Uji Kabuse and Umegashima. With spring rapidly approaching, we are soon to be overwhelmed (happily!) by the arrival of shincha, the just-harvested and always long-awaited spring green teas from Japan. In order to make a little room, we have decided to offer these teas at a special price for only a short time.
                 Umegashima Sencha
Umegashima Sencha:
A vibrantly clear, yellow-green liquor captivates with its fresh, spirited aroma and ""first-hint-of-spring"" flavor, which is notable for hints of pine. From Shizuoka Prefecture.
Reg. $9/oz. now available for $6/oz.

                   Uji Kabuse Sencha
Uji Kabuse:
Like the famed gyokuro, the tea known as kabuse-cha is shade grown--but for a shorter amount of time. This process creates a tea with the freshness of sencha and the richness of gyokuro. This particular tea comes from the famed Uji region outside of Kyoto. Enjoy its deep, mildly sweet flavor and vibrant green color.
Reg. $8/oz. now available for $4/oz.

These prices are offered only through Ito En New York’s Madison Avenue retail store and only until March 5th, 2010.

Need something new to make your tea in? Here at the store we’re pleased to highlight these beautiful teapots from Hakusan porcelain located in Hasami.Kyushu. These modern and elegant tea wares are easy to use and look great in any room in the house.

               Kyusu & Cups
Sawa kyusu (holds about 14oz.): $43
Sawa teacup (holds about 6 oz.): $12

Take care of yourselves and we look forward to seeing you!
